A personal welcome from the host

Tending the Sacred Springs of Creative Life Force

Writing in Sisterhood

Special Headwaters Edition

This Headwaters cohort is dedicated to all wild women who know they need to write. After having hosted 4 cohorts of mixed groups (incredibly beautiful and soulful), my spirit craved to create a space for the feminine. Here we will learn how to write with our cyclical nature, learn about deep nervous system regulation to help us step into the true self, and call in our matrilineal motherlines that help us write and create from the depths - which means… leaning into ritual and magic in this season! 🍂🕯️✨

Springs, wells, headwaters of streams and rivers were known to be the most sacred places, where the most pure primordial waters rise to meet the surface of the Earth. There, the ancients gathered to bring offerings, to renew, to receive visions, blessings, healing, and rejuvenation. Join us this autumn on the journey towards your personal wellspring.

You can't continue hiding your authentic self and expect to align with your creative dream life

HEALING SELF-PRIORITIZATION IN CREATIVE LIFE

Headwaters writing course is for you if (at least one applies):

  1. You have a deep inner feeling asking you to write, tell your story, your truth, and finally express the pent-up creative energy you've been carrying for years. You have books, poems, essays, articles within you that need to see the world.

  2. You need a system, accountability, and structure that will help you gain momentum in writing and putting your work out there.

  3. You have a strong inner critic that stops you before you begin. You struggle to prioritize your writing and creative expression. You have tried writing and publishing in the past, but it hasn't picked up, or you gave up, but you know you're meant to share your writing and story with the world.

  4. You need a safe space to train how to show up authentically, create, and express.

  5. You crave for a sacred space to reconnect with your motherlines and tune into your gifts. You feel you need to go witchy this season by tending to the invisible.

  6. You need to find your personal writing flow and learn how to synthesize diverse ideas into a coherent and compelling story.

  7. You are a creative, or an entrepreneur (or looking to make the leap), and you want to build an audience that will later become your clients.

  8. You are multi-passionate (and tired of having to hold only one identity). You have a mix of passions, ideas, and topics that you want to write about, but you don't want to censor parts of you that need to be integrated into your self-expression.

Headwaters course will help you recover your authentic and creative essence, prioritize it, and help you publish your most authentic writing to date.

WHY HEADWATERS?

Headwaters is not another writing course that will tell you how to write

This is a journey to integrate your creative potential and inner writer who will help you to realize that.

Before I started my Substack newsletter, I didn’t take it seriously. I didn’t realize how much power there is in consistently sharing my work. Especially writing that feels true to my soul.

The problem was that I was not ready to prioritize my creative work. I didn’t know how to value it, and how to give it the space and time it deserves.

My boundaries around creative time were weak. I was afraid to show my true self in my art form.

I didn't prioritize my writing and creative life until I realized that if I didn't do it, nothing would ever change.

Our ideas, our dreams, and our visions can't come through if we do not give them priority in our lives.

Life passes by in front of our eyes while we wait for the right moment to begin.

But here's what I have to say: the Earth needs our creations more than ever. You have no idea who needs to read your words. (Even if it's the past version of you.)

The writer within you is waiting to finally meet the world. She's waiting for you to answer her plea and to start creating and sharing with courage.

COMBINING PSYCHOLOGY, HEALING, MYTHOLOGY, AND STORYTELLING

Are you ready to prioritize yourself and your soul-lead writing?

We are going to do this by:

  1. Connecting with your authentic, creative self essence so you know what it feels like to write from a truthful, soul-aligned place.

  2. Unblocking your deeply rooted limiting beliefs that hold back your creative potential, your writing, and your authentic creative self, so you don't waste any more time (or money) second-guessing your creative self-worth in the world.

  3. Expanding the nervous system to hold more, so you learn how to feel safe in being seen in your truth and authenticity: as a human being, as well as in your writing.

  4. Creating a positive relationship with creative writing systems, structure, standards, and discipline. Knowing how to resolve resistance is the most crucial part of the creative workflow. I will share my systems, structure, and how to work with a part of us that helps to materialize our creative vision.

  5. Learning to write from the body, so you can be attuned to the subtlety of the inner sense of truth when telling a story. (This is magic dust in the age of AI writing slop.) We will uncover your personal voice and learn to discern what makes good writing that your readers want to come back to.

  6. Becoming comfortable with personal multiplicity: synthesizing your passions and ideas into your writing, so that the totality of who you are can thrive.

  7. Integrating the identity of a writer, understanding your personal myth, and most importantly—integrating the identity of a deeply deserving creative. Lasting change happens when we shift our identities. Identities shift when we are brave enough to connect with the truth of our being AND when we practice being in that identity long enough.

    Which leads us to…

  8. Writing together (in sisterhood!) in mutual support and safety. Training our focus together without distractions. Publishing together. This will allow you to build a creative momentum that you can take way beyond the course.

We will work on your personal writing projects every week, depending on your personal publishing goals, tailored to your needs.

About your host and teacher

Hi there! I'm very excited to have you here and join Headwaters.

Just like you, I am deeply passionate about self-expression. I see it as a fundamental virtue. In fact, your creativity, your creative life force energy, is the most valuable thing on Earth.

From the moment I learned to write, I fell in love with it. I realized early on that with writing, I can move people’s emotions and influence their states of being.

I started my career in psychology—facilitating deep healing in 1-1 settings as well as in workshops and retreats all around the world. As a writer, I worked in startups, NGOs, as well as with boutique design studios in Tokyo and NYC. My writing has been published in print by Everybody is People Publication, Meander Magazine, and Robida Magazine. I am also a 2026 fellow of the Seeds of Radical Renewal Fellowship by Emergence Magazine.

Currently, I am writing my debut eco-fictional novel.

TESTIMONIALS

Feedback From Past Headwaters Participants

"Headwaters far exceeded my expectations. Rūta has curated a wonderful thought-provoking, life-affirming experience that allowed me to reconnect to myself and my authentic creative voice. Headwaters not only gave me concrete methodologies but helped me understand the importance of my own writing for myself and its place in the wider world. After many years stuck, I am finally writing and sharing my work! Thank you Rūta!"

Sheila

"What was the most transformative for me was going into dialogue with parts of myself around the topic of my creativity. I was suprised by how much those parts of me already knew, they only had to be invited to speak. On top of that I think the course gave me some valuable insights into how to read my inner compass. Lastly the invitation to share raw material with strangers, and then to be received with so much love and care was a big help in getting my walls down."

Lisa

"There are numerous courses available which focus on the 'how' of writing. Ruta's 6 week course opens up a more fundamental context: the 'why' of writing. In helping us find our way back to the wellspring of personal truth (the 'headwaters'), she reconnects us to our own unique and vital source of inspiration, energy and courage. Thanks to this experience, my writing 'voice' has more clarity of vision, honesty, and intention. I would highly recommend the course to anyone who is serious about deepening their writing practice."

Susan

"Writing was a long-held interest for me, but remained unexplored for many years. Headwaters completely transformed my relationship with writing. Rūta asks the right questions and, through her unique approach and teachings, takes you on a journey that’s as much about self-discovery as it is about writing... Now, after the course, I can’t wait to start writing and share with the world what I’ve long kept hidden!"

Rūta is one of those people who transpires her deep connection with human nature, the more than human world, and the ineffable in everything she does. The way she holds space and the energy she brings into any space is filled with a very special and unique sensitivity, beauty and depth.

Her writing and presence inspire deep thoughts and help you access profound layers of yourself; deepen your own connection with the world around you (the visible and the invisible alike), and access your own source of boundless inspiration and creativity. She animates your mind & soul and in consequence your writing - into a deeper, more profound and connected practice that expands into all other artistic forms.

Lucy's Substack

The course was unique and different from any other writing course I had done. The elements weaved throughout around mythology, psychology and regeneration, created a different kind of space to explore my relationship to writing. It felt deeper and more holistic - not only focused on the craft and strategies of writing but on my own sense of self as writer.

As a result of the course I made some tangible changes to my life to create better spaces for my writing. I now give the best hours of the day to my writing practice and have created a sense of sacred ritual around it. It's been very helpful and empowering.

Lucy Hardy, Content Design Lead

Till's Substack

I think the key change for me was that I'm able to see the value of my writing more clearly, even before sharing with others and receiving resonance for it. It's the confidence that what I deem important to share has an importance already.

I always left the sessions with a lot of love for everyone and feeling understood and seen in my desire to express myself through writing.

Till Leinen, Co-Founder at The Compassionate Shift

Raphi's Substack

The course helped me remember that I already have everything I need to write. I revisited a deep knowing of why I want to write in the first place and formed a renewed gentle committment to my regular and focused writing practice.

I really loved the online sessions and felt deeply moved by some of the prompts used to reflect on our own creative practice. Heck, I even had a spiritual experience on a zoom call! Who would have thought that would be possible? The meditations, stories and quotes to guide us through the course were incredibly well crafted, deeply true and authentic to Rūta.

I loved the weekly focused writing sessions that reintroduced me to a more structured writing practice and that made me feel connected to the other participants. I also truly cherished the additional materials to repeat and dive deeper into the concepts and ideas shared.

Overall, I feel the course was a big fat YES to pursuing my creative practice further and offered a big boost in trust in calling myself a writer and in leaning in and embracing my artist self.

I think this was the most spiritual writing course I ever participated in and I really LOVED IT.

Thank you Rūta, I will definitely recommend this course to friends and family!
